Membership
The aim and purpose is to support and promote the unique, oldest cultural stage for Indian performing arts in Switzerland (since 1997). The Nateschwara Theatre promotes stage artists from Switzerland and presents especially international inspiring artists of various traditional
genres.
With the Nateschwara Theatre Association, a basis was created to continue this cultural stage financially and ideologically by a group of committed people from both cultures, East and West, in the proven spirit. The aim and purpose of the theatre is to promote the Indian dance and music arts in particular, to offer them a platform for presentation and to promote intercultural dialogue. Above all, however, it is the emotionally moving performances by artists of all traditional arts from East and West that are most welcome at the Nateschwara
Theatre.
With your membership, you help to ensure that the arts rooted in different cultures continue to exist and find their audience.
Patronage
With the founding of the Nateschwara Theatre, which emerged from Vijaya Rao’s Nateschwara Academy for Performing Indian Arts in 1997, a long-cherished dream came true. Realising this dream was only possible with the support of many dedicated friends. To set up an intact theatre, the necessary infrastructure is needed: a stage with a dance floor, sound and lighting equipment, and an auditorium with chairs, to name just the bare
essentials.
Among the first supporters were some well-known personalities and many students of the Nateschwara Academy, as well as the members of the then Nateschwara Society and those of the Nateschwara Dance Company. They all helped either ideologically, financially oractively, and often in all these areas.
In today’s artistic landscape, it is almost impossible for artists to exist without patrons. If you would like to make a contribution, please contact the Nateschwara Theatre Association. We would be delighted!
Volunteers
What is an organisation without a team? The Nateschwara Theatre Association, as the operator of the Nateschwara Theatre, is also dependent on active help. If you have enthusiasm to participate in this valuable project, in and through whatever, you are very much welcome. Please contact Mrs Vijaya Rao or Arun Balasingam at info@nateschwara-theater.ch – We look forward to hearing from you!
